Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR), Position Description Number D0606000 and is part of the PA Army Aviation Support Facility 1, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. Responsibilities As a FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR) GS-2185-10, you will serve as an instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members. Apply knowledge of the full range of aircrew duties and responsibilities, methods of instructions and requirements of the program, performs standardization currency, instrument, proficiency, tactical, emergency, and special tasks evaluation in flights. Determine and monitor factors and data affecting performance of aircraft, such as temperature, altitude, humidity, field conditions, configuration and weight of aircraft, on aircraft take off, flight and landing, and keeps pilot informed. Compute fuel and cargo load, and weight and balance factors. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Army Aviation Support Facility 1 AOC 2: NG employees in the State Army Aviation Office (This includes AASF 2, and EAATS) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes Traditional Airmen, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) AOC 5: Individuals who are currently serving in another branch of service who are willing to become members of the PANG Military Grades: ENLISTED: E5-E8 Supervisor for this position is LTC Bertsch *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations, aircraft performance data, aircraft records maintenance, and aircraft systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate knowledgeable experience in aircraft weight and balance computations, aircraft performance data, aircraft records maintenance, and aircraft systems. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
