Face Low Cost Spay Neuter Clnc Registered Veterinary Technician / Vet Nurse in Indianapolis, Indiana

FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic, Indianapolis' leading nonprofit veterinary provider, is seeking a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team. If you enjoy helping people and their pets, then this is the place for you.

FACE is dedicated to reducing needless euthanasia by addressing the root causes of shelter intake: pet overpopulation and pet surrender. Our clinic provides spay/neuter, vaccine, and minor wellness care to nearly 30,000 dogs and cats annually.

Key requirements include current RVT license in the state of Indiana, the ability to be a team player who is friendly, outgoing, and excellent communication and service skills.

Must be skilled in the following areas: blood draw, catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia, surgery, and exemplary nursing care.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide compassionate care to patients.
  • Dedicated to a high live release rate and the No Kill Movement.
  • Able and willing to work in a busy and fast-paced environment.
  • General supervision of veterinary assistants.
  • Assist veterinarians during appointments in wellness and vaccine clinic, while adhering to the clinics safety and wellness protocols.
  • Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique.
  • Assist veterinarian in medical procedures using proper restraint.
  • Cross-train with surgery staff with occasional shift rotation between surgery and vaccine clinic.
  • Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol.
  • Maintain and use medical equipment and other surgical instruments.
  • Administer treatments and injections following the instructions of a doctor or a treatment form.
  • Maintain pharmacy records, controlled drug, and anesthesia logs.
  • Take and develop radiographs.
  • Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to be on your feet a minimum of eight hours per day.
  • Must possess sufficient strength and assertiveness to effectively restrain patients.
  • Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
  • Must possess a love of animals and patience when handling pets.
  • Must display a professional manner at all times.
