Position Summary
Agency Summary
The Office of Finance and Management (OFM) is responsible for the finances and general operations of the Consolidated City of Indianapolis & Marion County (the City). The Controller, appointed by the Mayor, acts as the Director of OFM. Beyond its role of fiscal oversight, OFM directly manages budgeting, financial reporting, purchasing, grants, revenue collections, government real estate, fixed assets, risk management, and human resources.
Job Summary
The City-County Archives assists agencies within the City of Indianapolis/Marion County enterprise in the creation, use, access, storage, and disposition of local government records. This position will handle reference questions from staff and the public, manages the archive's reference room for in-person reference visits, and develops digital collection and metadata policies that reflect materials prioritizing accessibility and ease.

Position Responsibilities
Provide reference services to staff and the public.
Develop metadata standards for digital collections.
Develop finding aids/collection guides for physical & digital collections.
Catalog printed items and books in the reference room.
Coordinate digital collections & metadata with electronic records staff.
Assist with reference-related media inquiries for communications staff.
Provide education/engagement related to reference work to staff and the public.
Assist with research for special projects.

Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a deep knowledge of Indianapolis-centric archival collections and reference experience is required. Knowledge of how local government functions both today and historically is preferred but not required. One (1) year of work experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
10+ years’ experience in libraries/archives and/or Master’s Degree in history, archives, or related field.
