Position : Field Environmental Scientist (EIR Scientist)

Location : Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform field work related to environmental, due diligence, remediation, and industrial hygiene projects in Indiana and regionally.

  • Prepare boring logs, document monitoring well construction details, and other field generated data, and collect soil, soil gas, and groundwater samples using a variety of equipment and under varying field conditions.

  • Work closely with the Environmental Department Manager and Environmental Senior Managers to perform requested client/project tasks in both a field and office setting.

  • Actively participate in professional and technical organizations appropriate for core skill set and client needs.

  • Positively interact with internal and external clients, service partners, and contractors.

  • Promote a safety-first culture that values proactive measures and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with other team members toward a common goal of providing client-centric services with high quality interactions and deliverables.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Geology, Engineering, Geography, or other applied science

  • 0-5 years in the environmental consulting field is preferred

  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds

  • Must be safety conscious and able to comply with Atlas' rigorous safety standards

  • Ability to drive, travel and potentially work out-of-town for extended periods of time

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently or in a team setting.

  • Excellent problem solving and general scientific evaluation skills.

  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple activities on an on-going basis.

  • Must be able to pass drug screen and motor vehicle background check.

Technical Requirements:

  • 40-hr HAZWOPER training and 8-hour annual refresher, preferred

  • Prepare clear, organized, detailed, and accurate boring logs and well diagrams

  • Operate field sampling equipment

  • Familiar with USDA soil descriptions

  • Experience with groundwater monitoring, assessment, and corrective action statistics, preferred

  • Clear, detailed, well organized technical writing

  • Demonstrated technical and quantitative aptitude

  • Should be highly organized, possess good written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
