About the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC):
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission is an administrative agency that hears evidence in cases filed before it and makes decisions based on the evidence presented in those cases. An advocate of neither the public nor the utilities, the Commission is required by state statute to make decisions in the public interest to ensure the utilities provide safe and reliable service at just and reasonable rates.
Role Overview:
The Executive Assistant (EA) assists the Commission Chair, Commissioners, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and the Director of Operations as assigned in all administrative aspects relating to the performance of their duties. The EA coordinates the daily internal and external schedules of the Commission Chair, Commissioners, and the ELT as assigned.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $50,666.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the EA is responsible for the orderly and efficient flow of communication and information into and out of the Executive Offices of the Commission Chair, Commissioners, and the ELT as assigned. The EA is to assist the Commission Chair, Commissioners, and the ELT with general office administration including but not limited to: daily filings, creating and modifying documents using Microsoft Office, performing general clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing, maintaining hard copy files as well as electronic files in CRM as well as other emerging IT applications, tracking activities and maintaining various spreadsheets and databases and setting up and coordinating meetings and conferences and other duties as assigned. The EA provides administrative support throughout the agency as directed by the Director of Operations and may perform some of the duties of the Director of Operations as needed. The EA performs routine bookkeeping duties and assists
with travel coordination as needed.
The Director of Operations, Commission Chair, Commissioners, or the ELT may assign special projects to the EA from time to time. Other staff may also request that the EA assist them, and if requested, the EA is expected to be helpful, provided this does not interfere with the timely completion of primary duties. The EA contributes to overall Agency goals by providing assistance as needed.
What You'll Need for Success:
This position requires an undergraduate degree or at least five (5) years of experience working in an office environment in a position of trust with senior management in either the public or private sector. The EA must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and is expected to provide a professional, well-organized, and confident business image. The EA must have an above working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and must be able to adapt quickly to other agency applications.
