Lilly Engineer - Project Profiler - Facilities Delivery in Indianapolis, Indiana

Organization/Position Overview:
As part of Global Facilities Delivery (GFD), the Project Profiler is responsible for understanding the needs and developing options for capital projects that will support manufacturing strategic agendas.
Depending on candidate background, this position will focus on Parenteral and/or API network to develop options and build consensus between global engineering and manufacturing network leadership groups.
In addition to known capital projects, Project Profiler provides input into various strategic assessments of different business opportunities within manufacturing networks.
The Project Profiler participates in GFD governance processes between project launch and end of basic design to assure the optimum business solution continues to be developed and warranted changes of scope/capability are communicated/approved by stakeholders.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
The Project Profiler is responsible for the execution of the profiling/front-end-planning process for critical capital initiatives in manufacturing based on direction from the network leader.
The profiling process includes:
Ensuring business strategy and drivers for investment are clear
Identifying functional unit stakeholders and the functional requirements
Identifying the performance criteria that is required, formulating user requirements for capacity, capability, cost, etc.
Developing a project concept, including block flow diagrams of the process, capacity analysis, technology/platform assessment, utilities/infrastructure required, and preliminary layouts. Estimate the cost and schedule required to accomplish the concept.
Identifying and vetting of alternatives to achieve network goals
The profiler:
Collaborates with stakeholders (e.g. manufacturing strategy, supply chain, site leaders) and partners with outside firms as necessary to acquire benchmarking and industry information.
Is responsible for creation of a file that outlines scope, estimate, schedule, and requirements for the potential project.
Gains alignment and formal decision with business leaders via an Approval of Concept (AOC) meeting.
Participates in Project Change Reviews and monitors on-going projects to assess execution versus the profile.
Contributes to a capital planning database for major projects.
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
Minimum of 12 years manufacturing and/or engineering experience in support of pharmaceutical or API networks.
Preferences:
Able to balance an understanding of Lilly’s business with the ability to work at a technically detailed level when needed.
Able to concisely communicate complex options to Executives with the purpose of decision making.
Demonstrated good written and verbal communications skills.
Capital Project experience or demonstrated ability to lead groups including internal and external resources.
Able to tactfully challenge Lilly peers regardless of level.
Able to work in an environment where limited or conflicting direction is given.
Able to organize information, develop a plan for profile development, and then execute the plan hitting agreed to target dates. Able to set own priorities.
Able to pursue optimum business solution arrived at by following the profiling process, versus pursuing recommendations that are advocated by people with a vested interest.
Ability to influence senior level decision-makers and stakeholders who have differing opinions.

This is not a remote position, and will require on-site presence.
Requires travel 5-20%
