Position Summary
Provides for installation, inspection, maintenance and operation of electrical and electronic equipment, devices and circuitry. May be required to work early or late shifts that include weekends, to perform preventative/corrective equipment maintenance and provide assistance/direction to less experienced electricians and/or assigned helpers.
Position Responsibilities
Electronics/Electrical Duties:
Perform installation, inspection, maintenance and operation of electrical and electronic equipment with emphasis on traffic signals and street lighting devices as requested.
Equipment Operation:
Ability to set-up and operate electrical/non-electrical hand tools, digger truck, jackhammer, air hammer, air compressor, signal pole trailer and other equipment as assigned.
Manual Labor Task:
May be required to perform manual labor tasks that require the lifting and carrying of objects weighing twenty-five (25) pounds or more.
Equipment Inspection:
Preform pre-operational inspection of equipment to ensure proper and safe operation of the equipment.
Other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and knowledge are typically acquired through a HS Diploma or equivalent , 2-year Associates degree in Electronics and two (2) years of electrical or electronic work experience. Electronics training or electronics work experience may be substituted for the 2-year Associates degree in Electronics. A valid Class A CDL Driver’s License is preferred, Class B license required, the ability to pass a pre-employment driving physical, the ability to lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or more and the ability to operate equipment to which assigned is required. Must have a working knowledge of the National Electric Code.
