The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs a Sr. EHS Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses and potential hazards.

  • Taking ownership of plant EHS programs & training including but not limited to: Environmental Compliance, Fall Protection, LOTO, Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, Confined Space Entry/Rescue, Chemical Safety, TSCA, Site Emergency Coordination, Waste Management, Ventilation, Hearing Conservation, and Respirators/PPE.

  • Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes in order to reduce risk.

  • Completing internal and external EHS compliance reports and analyze EHS data and report trends. Implementing on-going industrial hygiene chemical and noise assessments and monitoring plans; implementing ergonomic programs to reduce risk of cumulative trauma and other ergonomic injuries at the plant.

  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to the plant by leading or assisting in safety committee teams and meetings, including EHS regulatory interpretations.

  • Providing EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment, industrial automation, and management of change processes

Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years of experience with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and procedures in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) discipline from an accredited institution

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience working in an EHS role in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with hazard and risk assessments and experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with ergonomics assessments of physical capabilities, needs, and limitations such as ErgoPrime or ErgoJAR in a manufacturing setting

  • Professional Certification(s) such as: Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), Certified Safety Professional CSP®, or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Work location:

  • Indianapolis - Zionsville

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
