SUMMARY
Prepares cost estimates for public bridge projects. Oversees all administrative and technical aspects of the bridge bidding process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyze contract documents, plans and specifications and evaluate project work scopes
Determine overall project bid strategy with area management
Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct field checks
Assist Estimating Administrator in soliciting quotes from appropriate subcontractors and suppliers
Verify necessary work quantities and assign appropriate resources and productivity rates
Evaluate design options and recommend alternative solutions or approaches as needed to secure work
Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes
Create and submit bid proposals as required
Negotiate and secure contracts
Negotiate and finalize all project subcontracts and purchase orders
Monitor daily job costs on ongoing projects and adjust estimating process as necessary
Maintain positive customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and or Construction Management and five (5) + years of experience on bridge intensive projects
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Must have good organizational skills
Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HCSS HeavyBid (or equivalent bidding software) essential
Problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Self-motivated; ability to work independently
Good written and verbal communication skills
