Biomedical Equipment Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a customer-facing Field Service Technician role that primarily travels to customer sites to maintain, troubleshoot, service, and provide support for all healthcare and life sciences equipment. The ideal candidate is an independent go-getter who is mechanically inclined and prioritizes customer satisfaction and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support for industrial washing, sterilization, and surgical equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, equipment modifications, and installation support.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and rebuild/refurbish industrial washing, sterilization, and surgical equipment and system components.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on various types of equipment from multiple manufacturers, including but not limited to sterilizers, instrument washers, tunnel washers, cart washers, blanket warmers, steam generators, surgical tables, surgical lights, and other equipment.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive communication, dedication to resolving customer equipment performance issues/problems, and maintaining an effective service schedule.

  • Utilize technology (laptop computer and related software) to perform administrative duties, including planning daily, weekly, and monthly schedules, completing service call reports, and maintaining accurate tool and parts inventory levels.

  • Identify sales opportunities, recommend appropriate products and services to customers, and identify new potential customers in the local service area.

  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when working with customers, contractors, management, and fellow employees.

  • Respond to routine customer and sales questions regarding equipment operation and performance, and provide on-site support to the sales team as needed.

  • Work flexible hours and travel as required.

Essential Skills

  • 1-3+ years of experience troubleshooting medical or HVAC equipment

  • Professional demeanor and ability to be customer-facing

  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of Getinge and/or Amsco industrial washing, sterilization, and/or surgical equipment

  • General knowledge and experience with equipment manufactured by Amsco, Getinge, Tuttnauer, ETC, Consolidated, Primus, and others

  • Troubleshooting, medical equipment, electrical, repair, mechanical, service, preventive maintenance, and calibration skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • HVAC, boiler, EPA, and biomedical skills

  • Ability to work within a medical setting to support doctors/physicians

Work Environment

This role involves traveling around the greater Indianapolis area to hospitals and outpatient centers, including locations as far as Bloomington and Fort Wayne. You will be back daily and need to be willing and able to work within a medical setting to support doctors/physicians. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, from 7am to 4:30pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.56 - $40.86
