Lilly Associate Director, Alzheimer's Product Communications in Indianapolis, Indiana

Organization Overview:

The Alzheimer’s Product Communications Associate Director will be integral to the cross-functional launch team where communications will play a critical role in telling Lilly’s Neuroscience story to support the launch of life-changing neurologic treatments. Responsibilities include overseeing the execution of a comprehensive strategy, including traditional and non-traditional communications tactics, to support both U.S. HCP and Consumer marketing programs for neuroscience products.

Responsibilities:

This person will report to the Senior Director of Communications within the NBU Corporate Affairs (BUCA) team. The candidate must be able to provide strategic communications support with a Team Lilly mindset, partnering closely with U.S. and global business colleagues in NBU, including marketing, medical affairs, VEO, regulatory, legal, ethics and compliance, etc. In addition, this position will work with cross-functional colleagues within the Neuroscience BUCA, such as those supporting patient advocacy and environmental shaping, as well as those in corporate communications, executive communications, corporate digital and social media, employee communications, investor relations and global corporate affairs.

  • Oversee the execution of an impactful communications strategy to achieve the U.S. Consumer and U.S. HCP marketing teams’ goals, closely collaborating with those teams and their vendors as well as with the BUCA, corporate communications and communications vendors.

  • Create and implement a media strategy for top-tier print and broadcast outlets after launch of neuroscience products and pipeline.

  • Plan and help execute internal communications to support the culture and cohesion of the Neuroscience Business Unit (NBU)

  • Monitor and report on communications metrics to show the measurable success of key communications strategies and tactics, and to refine the strategy of the NBU communications team.

  • Lead cross-functional work with marketing, medical affairs, clinical development, regulatory, legal, corporate communications, investor relations, etc. to develop, refine and get approval for press releases, standby statements, social media content and other communications assets.

  • Cultivate strong partnerships to garner internal alignment across NBU functions.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Master's Degree

  • 8+ years of diverse communications experience within communications or public relations agency environments.

  • Strong media relations experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to convey complexity in a simple yet compelling fashion.

  • Experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous pharmaceutical product communications experience, particularly in leading and executing communications strategies for product approvals and launches.

  • High-learning agility to enable fast ramp-up in the Alzheimer’s therapeutic area.

  • Proven experience in the development and execution of strategic and creative communications plans, leveraging multiple tactics from earned to paid, to support business objectives.

  • Proven ability in managing and aligning large cross-functional teams and complex deliverables; ability to influence without authority; ability to develop partnerships and good working relationships to secure alignment across all functions.

  • Successful demonstration of the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

  • Significant experience in product-specific media relations, including interacting with A-list media and serving as a spokesperson, is a plus.

  • Experience launching new medicines is a plus.

• Travel: 5%

• Position location: Indianapolis or remote

  • Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $129,000-$189,200 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
