Food Bank Program Assistant
Job Overview
The Indiana County Community Action Agency (ICCAP) is seeking a talented individual to join our Food Bank team as either a Full-time or Part-Time Food Bank Program Assistant. This position supports the work of the ICCAP Food Bank and the Indiana County Collective Impact Working Group, a group of community leaders working together to launch community-led projects and programs that increase access to food assistance. The following is an outline of the necessary tasks and duties performed by the Food Bank Assistant.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and capacity-building support for community-led projects and programs funded by the Working Group.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive food assistance resource guide in both print and online form and oversee the distribution of resource guides to community organizations.
- Assist with donation pickups from local retail stores, and/or any other locations as requested; as well as sorting donations.
- Assist with preparation and execution of regular monthly Food Bank and CSFP (Senior Food Box) distributions.
- Assist with delivering food boxes to various sites and/or clients within Indiana County.
- Assist with stocking, organizing, and maintaining the Emergency Food Pantry.
- Assist with answering phones, walk-ins, and registering clients.
- Attend any required trainings such as Food Safety certification classes, Civil Rights Training, etc.
- Provide administrative and capacity-building support for new and developing projects at Indiana County Community Action Program's Food Bank in Indiana, PA.
- Coordinate collaborations with the Collective Impact Initiative's Community Specialist to organize nutrition and food education, planning and/or hosting volunteer events and workdays, and other outreach efforts.
- Respect the geographic and cultural diversity of community partners and their participants by becoming familiar with customs and behaviors at various locations.
- Promote practices that support equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility.
- Be cognizant of, and maintain, safe working conditions.
- Successfully collaborate with new community partners.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
*The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: *
- A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED).
- Current resident of Indiana County preferred or individual with strong personal and/or geographic connections to the community.
- Previous experience in the human services, social work, or food systems sector.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones and computer systems.
- Project coordination and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; meet deadlines, ability to handle interruptions, and produce timely, accurate work.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, a good listener, thoughtful respondent and positive influencer.
- Ability to obtain Act 33, Act 34 and FBI certificates.
