GuideOne Insurance Director Reinsurance Operations - Hybrid Opportunity in IL, United States

As the Director, Reinsurance Operations, you are accountable for the overall administration of managed reinsurance programs for specified TMG members, including responsibility for compiling and ensuring the accuracy of information that goes into a submission, communicating with and maintaining relationships with reinsurance brokers and direct reinsurers, working with brokers and direct reinsurers to plan and execute the reinsurance transactions, reviewing contracts, updating and monitoring reinsurance accounting processes, maintaining program records, ensuring regulatory compliance, communicating with key internal and external stakeholders, and assisting with program design and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead treaty renewal process in partnership with broker team.

  • Analyze information to inform reinsurance needs.

  • Coordinate data and information requests to support submission development.

  • Organize and execute reinsurer audits and other office visits.

  • Lead facultative placements as needed.

  • Provide regular update of key reinsurance metrics to stakeholders including aggregations, collateral needs, receivable status, timeliness of recoveries, and others.

  • Partner with company leaders to ensure operational needs are met and key stakeholders are informed on a regular basis.

  • Ensure effective execution of reinsurance accounting, execution of contracts, processing of invoices, and recovery of reinsured losses.

  • Monitors and analyzes the performance of reinsurance programs, including providing estimates of Ceded Premiums for Plan and Quarterly forecasts, as well as individual reinsurer P/L positions.

  • Conducts various internal/external reporting and analysis (Schedule P and Schedule F preparation, document retention, journal entries, etc).

  • Review, document, facilitate and recommend various contract wordings, agreements, and addendums associated with the reinsurance program.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Five years of reinsurance-related work experience, but more is preferable.

  • Excellent working knowledge of property and casualty reinsurance.

  • Solid understanding of reinsurance accounting.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Microsoft suite knowledge including strong Excel skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong project management skill, ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently.

  • Excellent inter-personal, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.

    Compensation:

  • $99,900 - $166,500 commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility

  • $110,100 - $183,500 commensurate with experience in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA, plus bonus eligibility
