Position Title: Safety & Health Mgr.
Work Location: Site RWMC/AMWTP
Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday 4x10s
Salary Grade: 20 Salary Range: Min \$133,970 Mid \$167,605 Max \$209,365
Position Purpose:
The Safety & Health Manager is directly responsible for managing the Industrial Safety/Hygiene and Fire Protection (IS/IH) programs for the Radioactive Waste Management Complex (RWMC). This position reports directly to the RWMC Radiation Protection & Safety/Health Sr. Manager and provides technical direction and administration for the overall IS/IH programs at RWMC. This includes providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) level guidance for the implementation of all program level procedures and regulatory requirements from the Code of Federal Regulations as applicable. Ensures maintenance of exposure control programs to ensure worker protection. Routinely interfaces with project management, DOE counterparts and central program representatives. Participate in employee lead safety initiatives, e.g., VPP, Safety Committees, etc.
Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):
Bachelors of Science degree plus 5 years relevant experience, 2 years in management desired.
License(s) or Certification(s) Required:
Certification by the BCSP as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ABIH designation as a Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Position Responsibilities:
Interact with RWMC Project Managers and support management for identification and resolution of issues related to safety and health compliance.
Manage departmental activities to provide support for operational and infrastructure activities, to include program definition, scope, application, resources and work packages.
Provide technical support to line management regarding implementation of safety and health requirements through application of safety principles.
Attend pre-job briefings; observe activities and work areas during task performance. Address safety concerns and issues with employees. Provide feedback to work processes on observed safety issues.
Ensure programmatic and organizational philosophies, including performance feedback is communicated to safety and health personnel.
Ensure that training qualification programs are established and maintained for personnel.
Respond to assessments, audits, organizational evaluations and ensure timely corrective action. Provide direction and oversight for issues management and ensure performance of lessons learned reviews.
Conduct all personnel related actions, e.g., annual performance reviews, training plans, timecard approvals, etc.
