Job Description

An exciting new position under the Database Test and Tools Development org to ensure timely release of database patches (RU, PSU, CPU)Chance to Develop and own end-to-end automation framework, alongside Troubleshooting and debugging software programs that constitute the Oracle database server. This would involve analyzing test results, issues with source code through test runs, stack traces, dumps.

Challenges are in terms of

1. Code complexity - Because of the complex code, stabilization period has increased dramatically. Besides, there are several hundred bug fixes in every patch. This increases the risk of regressions

2. Multiple release lines - Oracle markets multiple database releases every year. Each release competes for resources with other releases

3. Customer requirements - Customers need timely releases to meet their needs. Delays in release schedules affect customer satisfaction

Responsibilities

Responsibility

Exposure to database kernel source code, opportunity to learn/master several key database functionalities like Consolidated Database, Grid computing, Real Application Clusters, Transaction Management, Query Optimization, Recovery, Data warehousing. Review customer use scenarios and debug/enhance existing test applications.

Skills required

• Python, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, DSA, OOP (mandatory)

• Perl, Javascript (can have)

Can-have Skills

• Understanding of Oracle server concepts (server architecture, background processes, instances, shared/dedicated servers, connectivity and associated configurations, alert log analysis, stack dump analysis etc.)

• Developing test harnesses, test automation frameworks etc.

• Experience across various platforms and multiple OSes
