About Energy Water Enterprise Release Engineering
We are a team of passionate releases engineers who are accountable for the release of Enterprise EnergyWater software (On-Premise & SaaS) to end customer/DevOps on a Quarterly, Monthly & HFs basis.
Driven by Engineering and Service philosophy, we develop, implement, and execute Release Strategy that drives internal builds, deployments, and release processes to ensure Reliability, Maintainability, and Timeliness of released software for End Customers/DevOps. Besides actively supporting Dev/QA teams during Agile Iterations, being the last checkpoint for product releases, we meticulously ensure "Dotting the i's and crossing the t's" with Release Checklists before we make the product ready for Customer's GA. Our group has a solid understanding of platforms (DB, Middleware, OSs), Installation/Deployment topologies, System Administration, SCM tools, automation tools, and Oracle Release Processes.
Position Summary
The Senior Principal Release Engineer is a strategic and technical leader responsible for driving the design, development, and execution of enterprise-grade release processes. This role ensures seamless delivery pipelines, robust version control, and high-quality software deployment in a collaborative and agile environment. You will work closely with engineering, product, operations, and leadership teams to streamline release workflows and enhance organizational efficiency, with a specific focus on Kanban/Scrum management for EnergyWater Enterprise products.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution : Define and implement release management strategies and standards across the organization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish best practices for software versioning, build processes, and deployment pipelines.
Release Lifecycle Management : Oversee end-to-end release cycles, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Manage dependencies, risks, and rollback strategies for all software releases.
Kanban/Scrum Management : Maintain and optimize Kanban boards to track and manage release tasks, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams. Collaborate with product owners to prioritize backlogs and ensure smooth delivery of enterprise product updates.
Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) : Design and/or maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines to support diverse platforms and applications. Ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of the CI/CD systems.
Automation and Tooling : Develop and enhance automation tools to minimize manual intervention in the release process. Evaluate, integrate, and maintain tools for build, release, and monitoring.
Collaboration and Communication : Act as a liaison between development, QA, operations, and stakeholders to align release objectives. Provide clear documentation, training, and communication regarding release processes and updates.
Compliance and Governance : Ensure all release practices comply with organizational and regulatory standards. Maintain auditable records of release changes and configurations.
Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience :
15+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or release engineering roles.
Demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale software releases in complex environments.
Hands-on experience in managing Kanban/Scrum for enterprise products.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).
Platform Expertise like Weblogis , Databases
Strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
Expertise in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Shell, Groovy).
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with cloud platforms preferably OCI.
Agile and Scrum Expertise :
Proven ability to facilitate Scrum ceremonies and manage Kanban boards.
Strong understanding of agile methodologies and principles.
Soft Skills :
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience in the EnergyWater domain.Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
Expertise in ITIL release management practices.
