Healthfirst Sr Payroll Analyst in Hybrid, New York

The Sr Payroll Analyst is responsible for accurate payroll tax processing for all HF and SMC employees utilizing Workday. This role will also ensure compliance with established workflows and procedures for multi-|state payroll operations and make recommendations for improvements to same.

Job Description

  • Utilize established workflows and procedures for multistate payroll operations. Ensure compliance and accuracy of payroll tax processing

  • Reconciliation and analysis of tax data

  • Preparation of tax funding where required

  • Identification and/or resolution of payroll issues as they arise

  • Verify system tax calculations, and update tax rates in Workday as required

  • Research and resolve assigned payroll tax discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner

  • Reconcile periodic, quarterly and annual tax files

  • Reconcile payroll data to 941s and W-2s

  • Manage assigned tax-related year end payroll activities

  • Act as internal payroll tax expert and resolve escalated payroll issues with HR and employees

  • Monitor and administer established controls to ensure correct tax setup in Workday for all employees

  • Stay up-to-date with Federal, State and Local tax laws

  • Prepare filings of assigned amendments with Dayforce

  • Document and update payroll tax procedures. Maintain library of tax tools and research materials to ensure tax filings are accurate. Communicate with Dayforce/federal/state/local government agencies to resolve any tax issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.

  • 5+ years of payroll processing experience

  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Outlook, and familiarity with standard office software

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Strong knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Local payroll/employment laws

  • Knowledge of Multi State Taxation regulatory requirements

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Ability to interpret, explain and comply with prescribed law, rules and procedures

  • Monitor, audit, reconcile, and balance variety of data and transactions

  • Perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately; identify and correct errors

  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form

  • Work independently and as a team member

Preferred Qualifications

  • Live within commuting distance to either the NY or FL office; may be required to go to the office 2-3 times a quarter depending on necessity.

  • FPP or CPP Certification

  • Experience with amending payroll tax returns and responding to tax agency notices

  • Experience using Workday and report writing system

  • Experience using Dayforce (formerly Ceridian) stand-alone tax product or other major tax preparer (e.g. ADP, UKG (formerly Ultipro), etc.)
