Coastal Medical Transportation Services Dispatcher/Call Taker in Hyannis, Massachusetts

The Dispatcher/Call Taker is a non-supervisory member of the operations division & is subordinate & directly accountable to the Director of Communication. The Call Taker may also take direction from the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Operations, Vice President, & supervisors. Call Takers are responsible for helping facilitate all aspects of transit & ambulance transportation provided by Coastal Medical. An individual in this position must value honesty & accountability, be highly dependable, self-motivated, approachable & able to work with a great deal of independence. The following list describes the essential duties of the position: Essential Duties Provide comprehensive & effective communication services (by phone etc.) Complete all paper & computer documentation per CMTS policy & practice. Operate all & computerized dispatch programs. Assist with Administrative tasks as directed by the Director of Operations & Vice President Adhere to & value CMTS policies & procedures. Clean & organize workspace as needed. Janitorial activities at the company bases or offices, as needed or directed by supervisory staff. Reports to assigned shifts punctually in a complete, clean uniform or professional attire. Protect the privacy of all protected health information in accordance with CMTS policies, procedures, & practices as required by federal & state law, & in accordance with the general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Maintain positive & effective communication (written & spoken) while interfacing with fellow employees, patients, referring hospitals & facilities & their staff members, & the community at large. Attributes Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment & common sense with a thorough understanding of the principles of emergency medical care. Able to work effectively & interact in a constructive & professional manner with their partner & other employees, public safety personnel, medical staff, & other members of the emergency medical services community. Able to interact professionally with patients, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, & the general public in such a manner as to reflect positively on CMTS. Understanding of & flexibility with a potentially diverse work schedule, including long shifts, nights, holidays, weekends, & late calls. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or other equivalent. Current motor vehicle operator\'s license & reliable personal vehicle Communicate effectively, both orally & in writing; ability to underst& & carry out verbal & written instructions using the English language. Must have a minimum of one year customer service experience. Highly preferred previous EMS experience. Satisfactory CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information). Knowledge of common business & office practices, procedures, & etiquette. Familiarity with the Microsoft operating system & common productivity products such as Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
