Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
This is a 60% teaching, and 40% service appointment. This is a one-year position with renewal contingent on funding. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the discipline of Agriculture – Intro to Prof Leadership Skills [ AGRI 1131], Plant Science lecture and lab ( PLSC 1307 and PLSC 1107), Principles of Agricultural Economics ( AGBU 2317) and Animal Science lecture and lab ( ANSC 1319 and ANSC 1119). All courses will be taught at the Houston Community College Katy campus.
This position will serve as the point of contact for SHSU HCC Agriculture Academy and assist in recruiting and advising all students in the academy. The selected person will work with SHSU faculty to develop and implement experiential learning activities in urban agriculture for the students in SHSU HCC Agriculture Academy. Additional service duties will include assisting faculty with the LDE and CDE events hosted by SHSU .
Educational Requirements for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
An earned Master or Doctorate degree in an agricultural discipline is required. ABD candidates will be considered.
Experience Required for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
Excellent communication skills and the ability to teach both disciplines are expected. The successful applicant will contribute to our growing undergraduate program, develop a student recruiting and advising plan and be a leader of the SHSU - HCC Agriculture Academy. High School, Community College or University teaching experience is preferred.
