General Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Two years of experience in a related field. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Provides monitoring and support for Sam Houston State University’s Data Center physical infrastructure to include facility power, cooling, and space management.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Supervises the data center and the equipment, which runs on a 24/7/365 basis, and functions as point of contact for on-call personnel. Installs new and maintains existing equipment including but not limited to racking equipment, cable management, and repair. Involved in monitoring and maintaining all data center facilities including but not limited to CRACs, switches, UPSs, generator, and chillers. Ensure back-up media availability and secure transport. Provides after-hours phone support for university users. Maintains records of equipment. Plans for and responds to service outages and other issues. Performs other related duties as assigned.
