The Valves Actuators Lines and Ducts Propulsion Team is seeking a Valve Design and Development Engineer.
Work in a team environment that analyzes non-conformances, component change notices, and in-flight anomalies focused on rocket propulsion system valves.
Provide technical support as part of an Insight Team working with commercial partners.
Provide risk reduction input to a variety of issues and non-conformances as it relates to space vehicle valves.
Provide data analysis of anomalies that occur during testing or flight.
Responsible for certification of launch vehicle components to contractually tailored design and test standards.
Fully document recommendations concerning valve related assessments.
Communicate and provide feedback to a fully cross-functional launch vehicle engineering team.
Support remote and on-site audits for component build and testing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
A degree in Engineering or related (STEM) field is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are a BS degree with 0 to 5 years of experience.
Experience in at least one of the following areas:
Experience/coursework in the design of aerospace propulsion systems.
Experience with component testing.
Good presentation skills.
Risk reduction techniques (dFMEA, Fishbone, etc.).
Excellent technical writing skills.
Ability to quickly learn new software tools such as VISIO, WinPlot, CREO, etc.
Proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel).
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Desired Experience / Skills:
Knowledge of valve components and valve types. This includes sealing materials and fluid compatibility associated with seals.
Familiar with types of rocket propellant as well as other fluids used in the testing and qualification of valves.
Knowledge of NASA and/or aerospace design and construction standards.
CAD experience, CREO preferred.
