We are pleased to announce the opening for a Senior Systems Engineer, who will join our Engineering Services Division in Huntsville, Alabama and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control marketspaces. You will be part of a team that supports the Missile Defense Agency Targets and Countermeasures (MDA/TC) Program Office.
Responsibilities:
You’ll be:
Supporting target programs throughout the development life-cycle in identifying, analyzing, planning, and directing implementation of resolution/mitigation initiatives for programmatic issues bearing on timely and efficient execution of the program and/or which affect the acquisition of targets and launch vehicles required for Missile Defense System testing and support to other agencies.
Providing engineering analysis and developing technical assessments for target systems, including proposed or requested changes, deviations and waivers to guidance, technical and performance specifications, and procedures to support decision affecting acquisition and/or mission execution.
Working in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment providing technical expertise to assist the Government in the oversight of program acquisition and development activities
Serving as point of contact for: document reviews, Objective Evidence verification, Entrance and Exit Criteria tailoring for major milestone reviews, status of target systems, process questions, and working groups and boards
Working with MDA/TC Program Chief Engineers (CE), Chief Product Engineers (CPE) and other propulsion systems team members
Developing executive briefings, analysis and summaries a needed to support program management, risk management, and other tasks as directed by customer
Providing “boots on the ground” test and integration assessments of target buildup and report daily to Government Customer and providing Government Customer with hardware closeout recommendations, coordination and updated hardware status
Providing engineering review of other Long Range Targets Office (TCI) program hardware changes and providing an Engineering assessment of objective evidence products for upcoming Design Review
Working with Chief Engineers, Program Managers and Product Engineers and Managers to support major Engineering, Technical and Test Reviews while supporting appropriate target and propulsion system technical boards
Maintaining configuration control of briefings, white papers, analysis and program documents
Proactively identifying risks, factors and issues that could affect program execution from a cost, performance, schedule, or political perspective.
Developing and coordinating mitigation and resolution plans with internal MDA and external stakeholders, in accordance with MDA and MDA/TC Risk Management guidance / policies
Basic Qualifications:
Masters in STEM field (e.g., physics, engineering, math, etc.) with 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program / project OR Bachelor’s in STEM field with 20+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program / project
Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes
Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to review large amounts of engineering and other technical information, summarize and synthesize the key points to provide technical recommendations.
Experience analyzing missile / rocket program hardware changes and providing an engineering based assessment of: the effects of changes on the systems; and potential technical, cost and schedule effects on program of record
Ability to decompose complex problems to actionable elements
Knowledge of engineering and propulsions systems principles
Experience with US Department of Defense weapon systems design, systems engineering, development, testing, system integration, fielding, and operations
Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint to include chart creation, use of multiple templates, image manipulation, and drawing objects; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
Organized; self-starter; good time management; ability to work independently and in multiple teams; adaptable; detail-oriented; good proof-reading skills
Experience as a Department of Defense civilian or government contractor
Experience in development and planning of alternate courses of action
Experience with Missile Defense Agency Targets and Countermeasures
Experience in proper marking of Classified and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
Knowledge of basic statistics
Public speaking/presentation skills
