BAE Systems in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to support the Integrated Survivability Solutions (ISS) product line, in the Countermeasures & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions business area. As an industry leader in EO/IR and RF technologies, ISS is dedicated to advancing multi-platform detection, tracking and defeat of incoming threats to support aircraft, ground vehicle and maritime survivability.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of software developers working software implementation for our state-of-the-art threat detection solutions to include the 2-Color Advanced Warning System (2CAWS) and the AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) products.

  • Design, develop, and test complex software and tools for EO/IR technologies.

  • Evaluate complex software designs to identify design flaws.

  • Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the design process.

  • Use existing processes and evolve processes to utilize the most effective new techniques as they become available, assuring the use of methodologies which minimize both design cost and product cost.

  • Participate in external project interactions with customers and other companies.

  • Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test engineers in one or more phases of the program including: Project Planning, Requirements Development, Design, Development, Integration and Test

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, and minimum of 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

  • Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance

  • High-level language proficiency in C

  • Extensive background in embedded and/or application software development in one or more: C , Python, Java, Ada

  • Foundation in Object-Oriented design and implementation principles

  • Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools

  • Experience performing software testing, validation, and verification activities

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience with Real-time Embedded Software Development

  • Experience with Agile Development and DevSecOps

  • Experience developing Linux and Windows Operating Systems

  • Experience or willingness to code in Ada and Python

  • Experience using software tools like Jira, Confluence BitBucket, Gitlab

  • Experience with Containers including Docker, Podman or Kubernetes

  • Software automated test development and execution

  • Software modeling experience

  • Software algorithm development

  • Software Leadership experience

  • Exposure to managing cost and schedule of software projects

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $115100 - $195700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
