We are pleased to announce the opening for a Machine Learning Engineer who will join our Technical Solutions division in Huntsville, Alabama and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control marketspaces. You will be part of a team designing machine learning solutions from the lab to the field.

Responsibilities:

You will develop, train, and analyze machine learning models for supervised learning and reinforcement learning. You will strategically plan projects and architect elegant solutions. You’ll work on a mix of projects, some of which will include other data scientists, others of which will require you to help educate non-data-science teams on the value and limitations of machine learning solutions. You will:

• Architect ML solutions and navigate difficult tradeoffs.

• Help identify and design training data sets.

• Implement and customize ML models from open literature.

• Develop MLOps pipelines.

• Visualize and communicate your results in written documents and oral presentations.

• Brief technical concepts and results to non-specialist audiences.

• Bring in new work to the Technical Solutions division through proposals and conferences.

• Help develop junior engineers. You will add value beyond your own technical contributions.

• You’ll support multiple teams and must be able to work effectively with other teammates.

Basic Qualifications:

• A master’s degree in computer science, math, physics, or a related field (a bachelor’s degree plus 2 additional years of experience).

• 5 years of hands-on experience with deep learning models (supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning) using PyTorch, Tensorflow, or Jax.

• You must possess or can obtain an active Secret clearance.

This is a mid-senior level position. We are looking for extensive hands-on experience with deep learning models. We expect strong software development fundamentals in Python and the ability to organize a team to work efficiently. We are looking for great written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface with customers. We are looking for someone who is a team player and is glad to lead a variety of machine learning projects as opportunity presents.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent understanding of the statistical foundations of machine learning.

• Ability to cleanly structure ML projects in Python.

• Strong intellectual curiosity. Our solutions often require creative implementations and combinations of state-of-the-art methodology.

• Experience leading ML projects that require multidisciplinary solutions.

• Demonstrated experience explaining technical concepts and data analysis results to non-specialist audiences, both through written documents and oral presentations.

• Experience with time series data, satellite imagery, and graph neural networks.

• Experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production.

• Experience with MLOps tools (PyTorch Lightning, Optuna, MLflow, etc.)

• Experience with DevOps tools (Git, Gitlab, CI/CD, Remote Computing, Docker)
