Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies is seeking a Radar Systems Engineer to serve as an embedded engineer with an HII subcontractor at their facility in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate has expertise and experience in all aspects of Radar Systems Engineering but particularly in system integration and requirements tracking and verification. This individual will collaborate with both the HII team in Dayton, OH and the subcontractor team in Huntsville, AL, acting as a liaison between the two teams. They will attend meetings with and assist with the technical activities of the Huntsville team, observing the context and perspectives of decisions made and risks identified. They will advocate for the Dayton team's needs, positions, and decisions, and will maintain frequent communications with the HII Project Manager and Technical Lead to ensure consistent, coherent collaboration.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Performs engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical, computer, or related engineering fields. Must be a self-starter, consistently deliver at a high level with minimum supervision, and maintain continuous communications with peers, partners, customers, and upper management personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

  • CLEARANCE: Minimum Secret clearance required to start

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with enhanced security checks

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related degree

  • Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to summarize, interpret, and provide critical feedback of technical discussions and documents

  • Experience with requirements tracking and verification for system acceptance

  • Experience working in a collaborative engineering environment with vendors/subcontractors and customers

Preferred Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related degree

  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Modeling and simulation of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) theory and techniques for Radar applications in Matlab

  • Radar/EW system design

  • Radar/EW test and evaluation

  • Development of real-time, low latency, high-throughput applications with CUDA/GPUs or C/C++

  • Experience with laboratory test equipment necessary to support development and testing of electronics and software for Radar applications

  • Design and manufacturing of ruggedized RF and digital electronics for fielded military systems

Physical Requirements

Office or industrial environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
