Jacobs ESSCA Group Glovebox Integration Engineer #ADV0008YR in Huntsville, Alabama

The MLSG Glovebox Integration Engineer (GIE) will support MSG and LSG payload integration. The GIE will serve as the primary interface between the MLSG Project team and the Payload Developer (PD)/Payload Integration Manager (PIM).

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

o Generate Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Utilization Memos (UMs) to document payload to facility interfaces and requirements.

Develop Materials Compatibility memos to document the material mitigations to protect each facility.

Report weekly payload/product integration status to the MLSG Project Office.

Understand facility requirements and coordinate with stake holders to be able to get the correct data to close out verification.

Analyze, review, and submit MLSG payload verifications to the ISS Program and the VERITAS database.

Review and approve ISS/Facility resource requirements from PDs.

Coordinate with PIMs for payload schedule and status of deliverables.

Participate in ISS Program payload safety reviews as facility subject matter expert.

Attend payload design reviews (Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), etc.) to coordinate available facility resources.

Coordinate and support the payload Test Readiness Inspection (TRI) and Integration Verification Testing (IVT).

Support program, project, and payload meetings/statuses (MLSG weekly meetings, boards, and panels, etc.).

Understand facility requirements and coordinate with stakeholders to be able to get the correct data to close verification.

Job Requirements:

A degree in Engineering, Science, Math, or related technical field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a minimum of a BS with 5 years of experience.

Required:

Experience in payload hardware integration and/or space operations support.

Understanding of the ISS Program structure, including the role of each ISS Program organization in the launch, integration, on-orbit operation, and return of facility and payload hardware.

General knowledge of Johnson Space Center databases such as ORBIT, VERITAS, etc. and Microsoft tools.

Experience in defining payload hardware or facility requirements, verification coordination, analysis, and verification submittals.

A demonstrated proactive approach to coordination with multiple stakeholders (ie. Payload Developers, Principal Investigators, PIMs, and project office representatives).

A high level of initiative with strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to operate independently with minimum supervision and complete tasks per project schedule.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desired:

Experience reporting payload/product integration status.

Experience submitting payload verification closures in VERITAS
