Summary About the Position: Serves as Security Specialist performing duties related to physical security, law enforcement, crime prevention, and information security and conducts investigations and inquiries into violations of laws, regulations, and security measures. Responsibilities Perform physical security inspections of the district's facilities, including restricted areas, locks, dams, operations areas, and resident engineer offices throughout the district Serve as the policy technical authority for the development, coordination, and promulgation of polices governing specialized segments of the physical security program. Prepare written survey and investigation reports and follows up on corrective actions. Establish and apply security controls to all designated areas according to standards, to the extent required to assure the minimum acceptable level of protection, using sound judgment and discretion. Perform security education, training, and briefing duties. Brief management officials and general employees on security matters. Develop and maintain all plans that concern physical security plans. Responsible for completing all operation orders (OPORDS), fragmentary orders (FRAGORDs), and warning orders (WARNORDs) related to physical security. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes military experience, industry, or commercial technical experience working with the principles, concepts, policies, practices and methods of security administration in the areas of electronic security, access control, physical security, law enforcement, crime prevention, and/or information security; investigative report writing, and coordinate with judicial systems; use automated systems to obtain investigative and personnel information and automated filing system to track maintain, update or control secure or private information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9) OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: police science, criminal justice, sociology or related field. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
