I. COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICE AIDE Department - Children and Youth Services Supervisor - County Casework Supervisor Date Revised -- February 2013 II. Job Statement This position exists under the direct supervision of the County Casework Supervisor to schedule, transport, and escort clients and/or families to and from support services including medical and dental appointments, foster homes, court hearings and recreational facilities. Must provide basic information, contact clients who fail to keep appointments and assist clients and/or families with the everyday activities of living, home maintenance and care, distribution and delivery of equipment, clothing and other belongings of clients and supervision of children during office visits and in crisis situations in the home. III. Job Duties/Responsibilities 1. Schedule, transport, and escort clients clients/families to and from support services and assist clients and/or families with routine daily activities of living such as home care and management, meal planning, budgeting, child care and training. 2. Provide basic information for clients and the community and advise technical and professional social service staff of clients' needs and progress in meeting established goals and objectives. 3. Maintain log of mileage and gas usage and maintain and clean vehicle. 4. Supervise children during office visits and in crisis situations in the homes. 5. Provide case notes to caseworkers, supervise visitations, assist with routine clerical duties such as pick-up and delivery of mail, filing, answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages, copying etc. 6. Pick up and deliver equipment, clothing and other belongings of clients, or other materials as required. 7. Able to react productively to change and handle other essential duties as assigned. IV. Job Specifications A. Education/Experience - High school diploma or equivalent required. County Social Service Aide - 2 B. General Requirements Good working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment, including a typewriter and telephone. Good knowledge of business arithmetic and English grammar. Ability to speak and write English effectively. Ability to type from clear copy or rough draft at a reasonable rate of speed. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and/or written instructions. Ability to communicate in an appropriate manner and get along well with others. Ability to make minor decisions using good judgment and acting in accordance with established policies or regulations. C. Specific Requirements Ability to operate a motor vehicle. D.
