ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Purchasing Specialist to oversee and manage the procurement process at Baer Manufacturing. This role will be responsible for expanding our current purchasing processes to support our growing manufacturing operation while aligning with our overall centralized purchasing vision and model. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement within the electrical or manufacturing sectors. This role will be responsible for ensuring that materials, equipment and services are purchased efficiently and cost-effectively to support our production goals and schedules. This role will also be responsible for building and maintaining our vendor relationships to ensure that we have the correct partnerships to support our strategic growth initiatives. The Purchasing Specialist will report directly to our VP of Purchasing and will office out of our manufacturing facility in Hudson, WI.

  • Support production team by managing and executing the daily procurement activities via Remarcable production ordering software.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for materials, equipment and services to meet production demands and cost objectives. Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures as it pertains to our Centralized Purchasing vision while championing the needs of our manufacturing operations.

  • Evaluate current suppliers and evaluate potential suppliers. Negotiate contracts and terms, in conjunction with Centralized Purchasing Team, to achieve favorable pricing, quality, and delivery services. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to discuss and align strategic goals and objectives.

  • Support production and scheduling operations to develop and implement an in-house inventory model and solution. Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to support production schedules.

  • Develop, implement and monitor opportunities for Vendor Managed Inventory. Work with production and scheduling operations to set the right min/max quantities, replenishment quantities and cycles.

  • Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities. Implement measures to optimize procurement processes and reduce overall inventory and overhead costs.

  • Work closely with quality control and receiving teams to ensure that all purchased materials meet the required standards and specifications. Address and resolve any quality issues with suppliers.

  • Provide feedback to design and engineering teams regarding the accuracy of bills of materials in regards to assemblies and subassemblies.

  • Develop and Implement metrics and key performance indicators as it relates to this role. Analyze, prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, including cost analysis, supplier performance, and inventory status. Utilize data to make informed purchasing decisions as necessary.

  • Focus on continuous improvement and effectiveness.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Electrical, Manufacturing or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management within the electrical or manufacturing business segments.

  • Lean or relevant certification is a plus.

  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations and cost management.

  • Strong understanding of electrical components and manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.

  • Proactive and results-driven with a strategic mindset.

  • Adaptable and capable of managing multiple priorities.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
