Basic Function

Responsible for producing clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation tailored for research and development communications. The role encompasses providing comprehensive support to Department Managers, Division Heads, Team Leads and Subject Matter Experts in a spectrum of departmental and divisional program activities. Core responsibilities range from proofreading, technical writing, and editing to the crafting and refinement of a diverse array of corporate technical documents, including but not limited to company highlights, reports, bulletins, newsletters, articles, and presentations.

These functions are critical in bridging the gap between the technical experts conducting the research and the various stakeholders who rely on accurate and accessible information to make informed decisions and advance the industry’s objectives.

May provide work direction to clerical and administrative staff. Incumbent receives guidance and work direction from department/division/unit head.  Supervision is generally limited to outline of overall objectives to be achieved.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Technical proficiency and familiarity with the oil and gas industry is preferred.

  • Utilizes a systematic approach to writing, involving planning, drafting, revision, and production.

  • Crafts and refines a range of technical documents for department management review and approval, including reports, bulletins, newsletters, articles, manuscripts, and presentations, ensuring they meet corporate and industry expectations.

  • Manages the organization and lifecycle of documentation, from initial creation to eventual archiving, maintaining an efficient content repository.

  • Standardize documentation across the board to ensure organizational consistency; integrate visual elements like graphics and charts to aid in the understanding of complex information.

  • Applies clear and powerful language to target and persuade readers for positive results.

  • Collaborates with engineers and technical professionals to translate complex findings into reader-friendly documents.

  • Assists in the review and editing of content developed by other team members.

  • Proficiency in documentation software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficiency in technical writing tools such as Markdown, XML, Adobe FrameMaker, and MadCap F

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Works independently and effectively manages multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Directs work of subordinates as/when appropriate.

  • Performs all other special complex or confidential projects as assigned.

     

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Math/Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management or closely related specialty.

  • Four(4) years diversified accounting, budget preparation, cost control, project management or other closely related experience.   A minimum of two (2) years of company related work is highly desirable.

  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.

  • Must know how and when to use a wide variety of statistical and financial analytical tools and have a working knowledge of economics, technology and accounting.  Knowledge of company planning, budgeting, accounting, personnel administration and cost control activities is highly desirable.  Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
