Job Description

Your Team

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to advance their career from an Assistant Superintendent or recent Construction Management Program graduate with internship experience. The Superintendent can expect to carry 1-7 homes from start to finish at any given time , with the ability to increase more over time based on experience and business needs.

The Homebuilding Superintendent coordinates site construction activities and all field personnel (i.e. staff and subcontractors) as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget as directed by the Project Manager or Director of Operations. This includes maintaining the highest quality of workmanship, while administrating good construction safety practices with all on-site activities. The Superintendent will also communicate the construction process to customers through inspections/walkthroughs, maintain positive relationships with trades and suppliers, and collaborate with the Sales and Customer Experience departments to ensure a superior customer experience.

Your Key Deliverables

  • Working with the Operations team in all aspects of construction for homes, from excavation to certificate of occupancy. This includes: review all drawings, site plans and engineering drawings prior to commencement of construction; prepare all cut sheets prior to excavation for concrete foundations.

  • Supervise construction activity for each home on a daily basis, ensuring all customizations ordered by the purchaser is complete. Update and maintain construction schedules on a daily basis, ensuring all stages of construction are completed within their deadlines.

  • Coordination of labor force on site. Includes scheduling and coordinating trades, subcontractors, suppliers and utilities for each home. Ensure all on site trades and subcontractors comply with all Building Codes at all times.

  • Coordinate required inspections per each home (i.e. Building Department, Engineers, Region, ESA, etc.). Ensure all inspections are complete, and we receive an Occupancy Certificate from the local Municipality, prior to closing of each home.

  • Ensure compliance with Brookfield Homes’ Health & Safety Policy at all times on the job site. Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times ensuring that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced.

  • Invoice approval on a weekly basis of work completed, so that payment can be issued.

  • Perform quality assurance inspections with the goal of delivering a home that is 100% free of defects

    Must Haves

  • Previous construction, skilled trade experience or construction degree program.

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage across all levels and peer groups.

  • Knowledge in reading and understanding working drawings.

  • Experience in ordering, scheduling, quality control and production of all phases of residential construction.

  • Safety training certificates (e.g. basics of supervision, OSHA, first aid, fall arrest, natural gas, and propane.

  • Valid drivers license.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer skills.

  • Strong financial acumen.

  • Proficient in computer knowledge and ability to adapt to changing software implantations and able to train team members across the division.
