Jacobs Structural Engineering Professional Associate in Houston, Texas
Fulfills the responsibility of a Project Engineer by being fully responsible for the development of bridge designs either self-performed or performed by others. Signs and seals own work and work performed by others as the responsible professional engineer. Performs field reconnaissance of existing bridges and develops strategies and detailed drawings for repair and rehabilitation. Reviews shop drawings and other construction related submittals and RFIs Collaborates with senior engineers to design and analyze complex bridge elements based on project specifications and standards. Ensures that bridge designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal codes and regulations. Maintains accurate project documentation and records Performs and directs others in performing structural design calculations for prestressed concrete girder bridges, as well as other transportation structures including retaining walls and drainage structures. Develops and directs others in developing engineering design calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and reports. Performs quality reviews. Researches design options and document findings. Assists with other duties assigned by Project Managers.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering or related field and 3 years of work experience in job offered or related Structural Engineering occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
Must have 3 years with: The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) both as a prime and sub-provider and has experience working on federally funded projects. Multiple finite element method (FEM) computer programs and include direct experience and a working knowledge of Bentley micro station, geopak, open roads designer, and LEAP Bridge Concrete; TxDOT’s Bridge Geometry System (BGS) and PGSuper; Industrial codes such as AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design specifications, TxDOT Bridge Design Guide, TxDOT Bridge Design Manual, TxDOT Bridge Detailing Guide Design-Build experience with transportation projects TxDOT practices and procedures. Both new bridge design as well as maintenance and repair.
Must have:
Texas Professional Engineer license.
Analytical, Conceptual, organizational, technical writing skills.
