Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Houston
Robert Half is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for a direct-hire, full-time opportunity at a reputable company in Houston. The Staff Accountant will be a crucial part of our finance department, playing a key role in ensuring financial data accuracy and compliance. This position is ideal for a dynamic and ambitious professional who thrives in a detail-oriented and results-driven work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Effectively manage a cleanup project which involves reconciling past financial statements.
Seamlessly navigate between old software (AS400) and new software (QuickBooks), ensuring the transition is as smooth as possible. Prior knowledge of QuickBooks is more vital than AS400.
Develop and manage complex spreadsheets, maintaining accurate and timely financial data.
Analyze and interpret summary reports, conveying findings and any significant financial insights to our key stakeholders, David and Linda.
Conduct thorough research and checks into our operational software, Gorilla Desk (prior experience not necessary) to ensure financial numbers are accurate and balanced.
Collaborate directly with other team members and take initiative as directed and needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as a staff accountant or similar finance role.
Skilled at creating and managing spreadsheets, must be proficient at Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of QuickBooks software is required.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a flexible personality able to work efficiently with team members.

Requirements for the Staff Accountant Position:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Prior experience in a staff accountant or similar finance role.
Proficiency at Microsoft Excel and the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets.
Knowledge of QuickBooks software, with prior use preferred.
Familiarity with accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for analyzing and interpreting summary reports and ensuring financial data accuracy.
