Responsibilities

The Senior Performance Excellence Consultant within the Texas Division is a hospital based, or divisional, resource that manages process improvement efforts for their organization using structured Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. This position works with department and the hospital leadership to identify opportunities, prioritize strategic improvements, facilitate and manage multidisciplinary teams and provide coaching to Green Belts and other Lean Practitioners to ensure structured problem solving is applied and monitoring is put in place for sustainable improvements. Responsible for making sure all departments in their organization are properly following the Lean Management System deployed by the Texas Division.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide coaching to local improvement leaders, physicians, and staff in the application of standardized methodologies in Lean and other improvement methodologies (Examples include: Lean Six Sigma DMAIC, GE Cap and Workout, Toyota Kata, Kaizen).

  2. Assist with managing the hospital based repository for Lean and Six Sigma based learning and best practices, as they pertain to growth and training of staff in the areas of Lean Six Sigma, Toyota Kata and Lean Management Systems:

a. Teach to the DMAIC structure of Lean Six Sigma,

b. Teach the core tools of lean as learned through the KATA and TWI rollout,

c. Timely use of Kaizen/Rapid Improvement and Work Out methodologies to help fast track improvements when necessary.

d. Use of Change Management tools to ensure staff are prepared for change.

e. Share playbooks, best practices, lessons learned, and case studies built within the divisional Performance Excellence Team.

  1. Coach leaders throughout their Lean Management work, including those at the Tier 1 (department level), Tier II (director and mid-management level) and Tier III (executive level).

  2. Provide guidance to hospital leaders by facilitating the identification of improvement opportunities, setting priorities, communicating the annual “True North” initiatives, and ensuring all departments perform and track improvement work their staff will complete to impact the organization’s priority goals.

  3. Facilitate and co-manage the Alignment Steering Committee for the hospital, made up of local executive, middle management and front line staff to address and drive performance improvement projects.

  4. Lead hi-leverage process improvement projects within the context of the organization’s improvement plan as recognized by both locally identified initiatives and divisional priorities.

  5. Review and analyze detailed labor, labor productivity and other operational performance data on a regular basis, identifying areas of needed improvement and prioritizing those areas for assistance.

  6. Develop and implement tools that can be used by hospital leaders to improve processes and monitor results.

  7. Facilitate the development of action plans and implementation schedules for performance improvement initiatives and recommendations. Assist with the implementation of plans and recommendations when appropriate.

  8. Establish project scope and timeline with appropriate stakeholders and manage projects to achieve intended objectives while anticipating and communicating deviations from the project timeline.

  9. Develop and maintain project documentation to include project proposals, charter, scope document, test scenarios, project schedule and test plans, etc. Prepare project status and reports as needed.

  10. Apply project management techniques to include modeling, evaluating, selecting and implementing appropriate solutions that lead to successful project outcomes, using project tools such as external benchmarking, scorecard analysis, workload measurement, performance improvement theory, cost-benefit analysis, knowledge sharing, coaching and mentoring.

  11. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Licensure:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (i.e. Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Healthcare Operations Management, or other)

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or comparable licensure.

( ASQ Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification must be obtained within a year of hire ).

Minimum Experience Required:

Five (5) years related experience

Preferred

Experience in Hospital environment.

Proficient in Excel, Data Analytics, Process and Improvement

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis.

  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of data systems.

  • Ability to manage several, complex projects at once.

  • Ability to interact with and sometimes direct the work of project and data analysts and consultants in order to achieve project aims and provide mentorship.

  • Ability to influence members of project teams to participate in projects fully and achieve results.

  • Ability to determine the key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives.

  • Must be skilled in exhibiting efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and results orientation.

  • Proven experience with communication, consulting, interpersonal, presentation, and project skills.

  • Goal driven, persistent, and creative.

Pay Range

$38.81 - $56.28 /hour
