Job Description

Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide Middle Office support functions that ensure trading and other Supply and Distribution (S&D) activities are compliant with company policies, state and federal laws.

Essential Functions

  • Review, analyze, interpret, and provide daily risk exposure and market to market profit and loss reporting; identify and resolve issues related thereto

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive risk management strategies for commodity trading activities, covering market risk, credit risk, operational risk, and regulatory compliance

  • Collaborate closely with trading desks, risk managers, and other stakeholders to assess and mitigate risks associated with commodity trading positions and business initiatives

  • Develop and maintain the risk reporting systems and dashboards, providing timely and insightful risk analysis

  • Development and enhancement of new reporting tools, key performance indicators and control functions for the Mid-Office

  • Represent the company in interactions with external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, counterparties, and industry groups, on commodity risk management-related matters

  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company, market & Exchanges

  • Provide ad hoc reporting as requested & complete other duties as assigned

  • Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance required

  • Master’s degree in finance preferred

  • Minimum two years energy trading experience required; two to five years preferred

  • Internal auditing, compliance/process improvements, or regulatory reporting experience preferred

Specialized Knowledge

  • Intermediate to advance Microsoft Office skills

  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of ETRM software (RightAngle) preferred

  • Detailed understanding of physical and financial commodity trades required

  • Understanding of the interaction between the Front, Middle, and Back-office business activity and the operational risks impacting commodities trading

  • Ability to understand and translate commodity transactions and the different modes of transportation

  • Effectively work and communicate with stakeholders with differing opinions and with cross-functional teams to support energy risk trading business and operational objectives

  • Ability to explain the risk components associated with commodities transactions to all levels of the organization
