Description

We are searching for a meticulous and experienced Senior Accountant to join this non-profit in Downtown Houston. The role involves carrying out a variety of accounting tasks, including reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining a general ledger, and assisting with the month-end closing procedures. Working closely with other accounting professionals, the Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to shape financial strategies and contribute to the company's financial health. This role is 100% onsite and has the potential to become a permanent position.

Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, and coordination and completion of annual audits.

• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports or snapshots of financial data.

• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and support schedule according to the monthly close schedule.

• Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures.

• Analyze revenues, commissions, and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.

• Assist with financial and tax audits, and document and monitor internal controls.

• Participate in budgeting processes.

• Utilize software to process transactions and maintain organized records.

• Assist with training of junior accounting staff.

• Prepare and recommend budget adjustments when necessary.

• Work with the accounting team to improve financial procedures.

Requirements • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Account Reconciliation.

• Proficiency in Balance Sheet Reconciliation.

• Expertise in Bank Reconciliations.

• Familiarity with General Ledger.

• Ability to handle Journal Entries.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience in Month End Close.

• Knowledge of NetSuite.

• Familiarity with Lawson.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks.

• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant.

• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

• Excellent problem-solving skills.

• Must possess excellent organizational and leadership skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
