HOK Senior Plumbing Engineering Design Professional in Houston, Texas
We are currently seeking a Sr Plumbing Engineering Design Professional to join our team in Houston. As a Sr Plumbing Engineering Design Professional, you will be responsible for creating drawings using Revit and AutoCAD as well as the design of portions of systems under the direction of a more senior staff member.

Develops, modifies and reviews Revit models of plumbing and fire suppression systems and components according to governing codes, established standards, and Revit modeling techniques, based on input from the plumbing engineering team. Creates project drawings from the Revit model.
Develops flow diagrams, riser diagrams, control diagrams, equipment schedules, details, and similar project documents using Revit.
Organizes and maintains Revit models and design documents for multiple projects.
Develops plumbing and fire protection system specifications.
Prepares calculations necessary for the plumbing and fire suppression systems design.
Works closely with project team and assists to complete projects on aggressive schedules.
Performs all work in a clear, complete, and accurate manner.
Uses Revit, Navisworks, and other clash detection software to check the plumbing and fire suppression systems design for interferences with other building elements.
Utilizes knowledge and experience in applying modeling and drafting principles for drawings.
Mentors and directs the work of less experienced staff.
Implements and utilizes HOK Standards for projects and processes.
Actively seeks new knowledge related to engineering practices, principles, and regulation changes.
Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
Required Skills
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
Advanced knowledge of building codes.
Ability to design and model plumbing and fire protection systems for large and complex projects.
Ability to produce drawings, specifications, and calculations with limited guidance of more senior staff.
Ability to interpret consultant design documents (for instance kitchen consultant’s equipment layouts, equipment schedule, and catalog cuts) and design the necessary plumbing system.
Select plumbing equipment and lay out the required equipment space.
Coordinate with HVAC and electrical designers to coordinate the requirements.
Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of plans, sections diagrams, and equipment schedules found on drawings and in preparation of specifications.
Proficiency in Revit, including BIM modeling required.
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Basic knowledge about sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
Ability to perform computer drafting functions using Revit and be able to resolve design conflicts .
Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree, Technology degree, or Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of plumbing and fire suppression system design experience working on a wide variety of building types, such as: commercial, corporate, institutional and civic, justice, science and technology, aviation, or healthcare facilities.
Experience working and coordinating with integrated teams.
Experience with high purity water systems, compressed air, and specialty gas systems is a plus.
LEED credential required within 6 months of employment.
ASPE CPD credentials preferred (required within first year of HOK employment).
