GE Vernova Senior Operations Leader in Houston, Texas

Job Description Summary

Responsible for facilitating transactions, producing, assembling and delivering replacement/ repair parts and equipment as part of a Services agreement or Accountable to business unit responsibilities within shop operations of the Houston Service Center – Jacintoport facility. This includes people leadership, capital investment strategy and implementation, and the overall safety, quality, delivery, cost metric performance. All while creating an inclusive and well-connected organization that is aligned to exceed the business and customer expectations. The role will oversee shop operations and have direct reports of front-line supervisors and will report directly to the Site Executive. This role demands strong characteristics of leadership, being a change agent, and challenging status quo to enable a world class organization. The people leader in this role will work closely with support functions, such as EHS, Quality, Finance, and HR.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the team with an inclusive approach and a growth mindset centered on solutions to challenges within and outside of direct area of control

  • Directly and indirectly lead shop activities through the resource pool of shop personnel and front line leaders, process engineers, and other supporting functions

  • Develop front line leaders to lead with autonomy and empowerment with the expectation of delivering EHS, Quality, Delivery, and Cost performance

  • Establish clear goals for direct team in addition to the support functions to enable the required objectives

  • Drive a continuous improvement environment to develop and leverage digital tools and processes that enable efficiency gains

  • Adopt and drive engagement on system usage to comply with QMS and compliance requirements

  • Develop and implement a strategy of capital investment that addresses risks and productivity constraints

  • Develop a skills matrix to enable depth in resourcing who are trained to excel in the assigned operations

  • Own departmental synergies that remove road blocks and challenges the direct or indirect team experience

  • Main point of contact for operational & human resource escalations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or service shop environment

  • 8-10 years of direct people leadership experience in a manufacturing and/or service shop environment

  • Ability to lead with autonomy and develop an empowered team to execute in the best interest of the business and customer

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Advanced degree in business or engineering

  • APICS certification

  • Green or Black Belt Certification

  • RCA qualifications
