Sysco Senior Director, Industrial Engineering in HOUSTON, Texas
Summary of Job Purpose:
The Sr. Director of Industrial Engineering is accountable for team development, process standardization, engineered standards, methods development, system deployment and training, continuous improvement, project management, consulting relationship management, contract management, resource planning and budgeting various programs and activities.
Responsibilities:
Establish formal Engineering methods that can be utilized to create standards for all Sysco business units – domestic and international. Sysco is a large and complex organization, as such, innovation and large - scale improvement activities have to be orchestrated for successful results.
Develop Engineered labor standards using statistical analysis to improve productivity and gain efficiencies across business units.
Lead systems and testing proof of concept prior to execution.
Create recommendation for enterprise deployment and implementation plan engaging appropriate stakeholders to align with agreed upon milestone.
Responsible for analyzing processes, methods, and systems to recommend improvements that will rapidly increase efficiency.
Development, maintenance, and application of engineered labor standards for transportation. Directs all aspects, including direct reports, consulting contracts, temporary resources, system licenses, and billing.
Collaborate with Supply chain learning for methods training and project engineering in support of field operations including training on the use of the systems for efficient operations.
Lead an implementation program across delivery operations for Specialty and International locations through a team of experts responsible for process design, system configuration, change management and training at each location.
Work very closely with BT (Business Technology) to bring together hardware, software, database, telecom and RF (radio frequency) components with user change management and training for successful implementations.
Oversight for the development, organization, facilitation, communication, and deployment of special projects in the operations area.
Plays a key role in project management and change management with close interaction with field resources.
Reviews results and frequently interacts with field personnel and identifies opportunities for education, standardization and process improvement.
Serves as subject matter expert for Delivery related aspects of programs.
Responsible for recruiting, developing and retaining top talent for the various teams.
Directs work in a cross-functional manner to identify and implement processes that improve overall cost, service performance, and safety across delivery operations.
Provide thought leadership in process improvement and standardization for integrated warehouse and delivery operations across Sysco.
Oversees best practices for operations across delivery activities including policies, procedures, work methods and equipment specifications.
Identify and socialize productivity improvements and cost savings opportunities within the network, providing recommendations and implementation plans to the management team.
Direct development of management reporting tools to monitor performance and identify improvement areas.
Monitor the performance of companies and provide direction to attain benchmark goals set by SYSCO.
Other duties may be assigned by department leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelors' degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering or Equivalent
Graduate degree preferred in an area of relevant study such as Business Administration, Engineering Management, Supply Chain Management or Equivalent
Experience:
- 15 or more years of experience in supply chain operations, supply chain design in the areas of food or general merchandise distribution and/or manufacturing. Experience should include a series of leadership roles of increasing responsibility with signature accomplishments.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
APICS CPIM, CSCP and/or CLTD certification desired
Familiarity with advanced computer engineering, optimization, analytics and database tools such as Llamasoft Supply Chain Guru, Databases and SQL, Tableau, AutoCAD, Sysco Suite of Applications – SWMS, FLEX, Optislot, Roadnet, SOS, SLS, STS, Telogis, SUS, TMS, DPM and SAP, I2 Supply Chain Strategist, SAS, R
Self-sufficient computer literacy including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Project, MS Powerpoint and Outlook

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to think independently and strategically and to develop original ideas and successfully achieve evolutionary market-driven change as well as revolutionary disruptive change as required to achieve business goals
Demonstrated ability to lead organizational transformation including design, execution, and ongoing team development.
The ability to identify, attract, inspire, motivate, develop, and retain top talent is a fundamental part of this organizational transformation
Strong ability to interpret operating and financial data and lead the development of mathematical models and tools for ongoing business decision making
Strong ability to read and understand technical documents related to multiple disciplines of the supply chain, business, engineering, construction, and real estate
Ability to build strong relationships, and collaborate effectively with other leaders inside and outside the organization including business segment leaders, Supply Chain Operations, Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Business Technology, and executive-level leadership
Ability to persevere and achieve goals and objectives despite obstacles and resistance
Physical Demands
The job requires travel 50% of the time.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Working Conditions
This position can be performed from the corporate facility or from a remote location.
Must be able to do limited travel to Sysco facilities or operating companies.
If working remote, must have required software to ensure timely communications and have a dedicated workspace free of any distractions and participate in conference calls in a business-friendly environment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
