Actalent REMOTE Automation Project Engineer in Houston, Texas

Job Title: Automation Project Engineer

Job Description

The Automation Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring quality assurance (QA) for the assigned package within the contractual scope of supply. The role includes securing compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) rules and regulations, handling communication with the customer and sub-suppliers regarding technical matters, and ensuring all changes and additional requirements are properly documented. The engineer will also secure necessary approvals from the client for design, drawings, quality, and inspection formats, and assure third-party approval of documents and systems. Additional responsibilities include addressing deviations from the contracted scope of supply, providing feedback to the Lead Engineer, and securing required documentation for purchase orders and commissioning. The engineer will also be involved in developing and modifying automation cabinets, communication network topologies, and various interface lists, as well as updating firmware and system information documents.

Hard Skills

  • Coordination of Automation sub-packages (IAS, SIS, Asset Management, HMS)

  • SCADA Experience

  • Experience with IEC61850 and TCP/IP network Protocols

  • Development of propulsion control and PEMS system descriptions

  • Development of hardware and software testing procedures

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or other engineering degree

  • 8+ years of experience in engineering with Distributed Control Systems

  • Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools

Soft Skills

  • Effective communication with customers and sub-suppliers

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Ability to secure necessary approvals

  • Problem-solving and feedback provision

  • Coordination and logistics management

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

  • This is a fully remote position with 5-10% travel.

Work Environment

  • Remote with 5-10% Travel
