Position Summary
The Quality Control coaching position is one that requires hard work, dedication and sacrifice. The best fit is someone who is the self-motivated, well-versed individual who has a passion that will have a positive influence on the Rice Owls Football Program. The service a QC provides a football program cannot be overstated. The quality of his performance and the team's success go hand-in-hand. Funding of this position will serve our coaching staff well and offer the program more opportunity for growth and even more success.
Workplace Requirements:
On campus position: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- One or more (1 ) year of related experience working with a high school, collegiate, or professional football team

- Knowledge of football video editing software programs
- Knowledge of NCAA legislation and Conference USA Bylaws, and compliance guidelines related to a football program
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated professional and effective public relations skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multi-task and work well in a team setting or individual setting
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
Essential Functions
- Assists football coaches in identifying tendencies in play calling
- Identifies trends to better predict success in game situations
- Assists football coaches in scouting opponents, searching for tendencies and weaknesses to improve the team's chances of winning
- Calculates advanced football metrics that will show the team how efficient it is operating in different situations
- Provides insight for coaching staff on areas of strengths and weaknesses to better tailor practices and workouts to focus on areas of greatest need
- Creates and maintains depth chart for team
- Analyzes playing time for all players during games and charting effectiveness on a constant basis
- Assists the football coaches on any othe team related duties as permissible by NCAA legislation including but not limited to: developing practice and workout plans, leading video sessions, attending staff meetings, and adhering to all NCAA and Conference USA bylaws
- Completes other duties as assigned
