Eaton Corporation Product Line Application Engineer in Houston, Texas

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Product Line Application Engineer. This position is a HYBRID work schedule and will be located at our Eaton Houston TX facility (Northwest side of Houston, Beltway 8). Relocation assistance is being offered, if needed.

The Product Line Application Engineer will provide negotiation and application support in the field for our MCC customers. This includes supporting sales with customer specification reviews and project takeoffs in our quotation tool. This may include design of complex circuits to meet application requirements; creating engineering documentation for drafting, procurement, and manufacturing, and providing coordination and lead technical guidance to our customers and product line personnel. This position will be the lead field based technical support for the MCC Product Line.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $108749.97 - $159499.96 a year.

What you’ll do:

In this role, you will:

  • Perform project negotiation takeoffs in a timely manner, supporting the local field sales team.

  • Plan and lead project review/drawing approval meetings with customers and plant engineering.

  • Provide product engineering with expertise to implement improvements in internal systems, training, and applications.

  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of product engineering technologies, competitor capabilities and practices, market conditions, and market channels.

  • Provide complex engineering functions to support the marketing and sales efforts of the company.

  • Support field sales activities through the development of technical information relating to technical or information tools to enhance sales performance and regional customer visits and sales calls.

  • Visit with and serve as a primary contact for customers to explain technical aspects of product line applications and interpret customer product specifications and drawing requirements.

  • Drive Eaton-friendly spec content at specifying engineers and end users in assigned geography.

  • Provide a broad range of applications engineering assistance to define company solutions to more complex customer problems.

  • Respond to technical and commercial questions from customers in a timely, concise and professional manner to support marketing and sales activities.

Qualifications:

Basic REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years technical experience in either Motor Control, Network Communications, Power Systems Electrical Distribution and/or field sales engineer experience.

  • Must be able to travel 25% domestically

  • Must be willing to relocate to Houston TX. Relocation assistance provided, if needed.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now and in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum two (2) year of product engineering experience (including co-ops and internships) in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of Eaton applications (Bid Manager, POM, AS400, Mapics)

Skills:

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Strong business acumen

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to problem solve and analyze product application issues and drive them to root cause resolution.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously.

  • Must be able to work well in a small team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers.

  • Must be a strong team player that enjoys a fast-paced environment.
