McDermott Principal Tax Analyst in Houston, Texas

Job Overview:

To assist the Senior Tax Management in providing corporate income tax services related to activities primarily outside the U.S. The job holder is a member of the Corporate Tax Department which is a corporate function within McDermott.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provision of tax advice and tax planning

  • Research and advise on various tax regimes applying in different countries and jurisdictions

  • Work with project teams and Finance to ensure proper implementation of tax advice/planning and follow through with compliance on special projects and ad hoc assignments

  • Keep McDermott internal departments up-to-date with tax legislation changes in relevant countries, and their impact on McDermott

  • Liaise with Tax, local and corporate Finance depts., other McDermott depts. and external advisers as necessary

  • Compliance with applicable tax laws

  • Review/assistance with corporate income tax returns for various companies

  • Review/assistance with Pillar 2, country by country reporting and related documentation

  • Review/assistance with transfer pricing documentation and compliance

  • Review/assistance with tax audit & assessment and uncertain tax position calculation

  • Review/assistance with tax procedures and processes

  • Accurate and fair recording of tax

  • Review/assistance with ASC 740 quarterly & annual tax provisions (US GAAP reporting)

  • Review/assistance and timely recording of return to provision adjustments.

  • Review and advise on tax reporting procedures and processes

  • Co-ordinate quarterly forecast, projection and related reporting

  • SOX 404 tax control benchmarking and risk assessment

  • Liaise with Tax, local and corporate Finance depts., external advisers and external auditors as necessary

  • Tax presentations data administration

  • Gather tax data from various ERP and Tax systems and the field locations and organize into slides required for FP&A, and Audit committee presentations

  • Oversee Tax provision software data integrity, controls and interfaces with Accounting systems

  • Work with Accounting on improving efficiencies in digital data sharing

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting required

  • 7 plus years of income tax experience from large international construction project (EPC) preferred with Oil & Gas industry exposure, and / or large public accounting firm with focus on ASC 740 tax provision and compliance

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Masters degree in Accounting or Taxation and CPA preferred
