Jacobs Ports & Maritime Structural Engineer in Houston, Texas

As a Ports & Maritime Structural Engineer in Houston, TX, you will be a part of a global team of more than 550 maritime experts. You’ll be involved with design, analysis, and delivery of projects ranging from local waterfront projects to large scale port developments. We’ll rely on you to provide support to our teams on critical projects while fostering a culture of continuous learning and inclusion as you bring fresh ideas to the table. We’ll provide you the challenge of working on the design of new and rehabilitation of existing marine facilities. During your time withus, you will lead or assist in the preparation of structural calculations/designs, contract drawings and specifications, field inspections, engineering reports, and construction field reports. You will be given the opportunity to work with clients and subconsultants and give technical presentations as necessary. • A minimum of 5 - 10 years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer in the design of marine structures and bridges.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university or college.

• TX Professional Engineer License (or the ability to obtain one within one year) is required. If close to obtaining a license or scheduled for the exam, the candidate will be considered.

• Working knowledge of building codes (ASCE 7, ACI, AISC and AASHTO) as it relates to the design of marine structures and bridges.

• Experience in preparation of construction drawings and specifications.

• Proficiency with structural analysis programs (STAAD Pro) and familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and small projects independently.

• Structural field inspection experience.

• Ability to travel occasionally for site visits and inspections.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.

• Experience in designing and rehabilitating marine structures and bridges.

• Experience with project quantities and cost estimation.

• Experience in working with port authorities, private terminal companies and DOTs.

• Able to produce structure details in AutoCAD / MicroStation and coordinate with senior CAD operators to prepare construction drawings.

• Able to produce technical memorandums and reports.
