Position Description

The Pipeline Materials Team within the Pipeline Data group at Kinder Morgan is responsible for verification of natural gas pipeline Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure with supporting traceable, verifiable and complete material and pressure test records pursuant to PHMSA regulations at 49 CFR Part 192 and Maximum Operating Pressure for liquid pipelines pursuant to PHMSA regulations at 49 CFR Part 195. This program is currently being executed with a team of data analysts responsible for collection, compilation, analysis, and verification of material and engineering records to support the pipeline MAOP/MOP. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Pipeline Materials Team and will oversee 4-6 data analyst contractors in addition to supporting/leading the following activities:

  • MAOP/MOP Records verification for pipelines, components and facilities;

  • Represent the Pipeline Materials Team at PHMSA/internal Audits for pipelines;

  • Respond to pipeline projects and internal engineering data requests;

  • Analyze MAOP/MOP for high pressure pipeline segments;

  • Improve verification processes and procedures;

  • Train analysts, design Engineers, and field support personnel; and

  • Integrate with other Teams of Pipeline Data Group to ensure timeliness and accuracy of pipeline data.

    Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of the successful candidate

    Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;

  • Pipeline industry experience of 5-7 years;

  • Professional license or ability to secure license is preferred but not required;

  • Prior experience in pipeline data and MAOP/MOP validation is desired;

  • Familiarity with pipeline data systems such as PODS, GIS, etc.;

  • Working knowledge of pipeline materials and yield strength calculation;

  • Working knowledge of PHMSA 49 CFR Part 192/195 regulations;

  • Occasional overnight travel to pipeline field offices;

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel); and

  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed

Other Necessary Skills:

  • Fundamental knowledge of construction and operation of high pressure pipelines;

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with other groups;

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with different groups;

  • High regard for personal safety, safety of company assets, and other employees;

  • A valid driving license and a satisfactory driving record; and

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools.

This position has the opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule with Monday through Wednesday in the office and Thursday and Friday remote as well as a flexible work schedule such as 9/80.
