Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II ensures the prompt and accurate delivery of medication to the patient in according with the pharmacy laws of the State of Texas and the policies and procedures of the Department of Pharmacy.
Responsible for the operational activities associated with the provision of pharmacy services, to include but not limited to the preparation of products, the care of equipment, and the delivery of medications and supplies.
Fulfills the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth in accordance with departmental policies and the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Maintains all required certifications in accordance with State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.
Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and medications in the main pharmacy and drug dispensing cabinets throughout the facility.
Interactions with patients and colleagues demonstrate compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status or cultural beliefs.

Job Requirements:
Education required or preferred:
REQUIRED: None.
PREFERRED: Successful completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training course
Licensure/Certification required or preferred:
REQUIRED:Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy; Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) approved IV Certification, ( To be completed within 90 days of employment).
PREFERRED: National certification as a pharmacy technician (CPhT)
Experience required or preferred:
PREFERRED: One-year previous hospital experience
