MD Anderson Cancer Center Part Time Radiation Therapy Assistant in Houston, Texas

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Key Functions

  • Coordinates and schedules patient appointments to include:

o New starts

o Reschedules

o Boost changes

o Patient requests

o Reconcile CARE/Hospital EMR system(s) and Mosaiq

  • Determines appropriate treatment machine in which to schedule as prescribed by the physician.

  • Observe scheduling of proper time slots as indicated by requests or patient condition.

  • Assures charges are correct for treatment type.

  • Coordinates with radiation therapists that scheduling requests have been received, completed, and patient notified.

  • Answers and resolves any patient scheduling concerns.

  • Helps in the Radiation Oncology waiting areas. Completes rounding and reports.

  • Assists visitors with directions and information.

Simulation and Treatment Areas:

  • Gathers information pertinent to the patient per the radiation therapist's direction.

· Delivering patient immobilization devices to multiple areas of patient care

  • Escorts and instructs patients to and from assigned/designated areas.

  • Assists radiation therapists with treatment room preparation.

  • Performs assigned cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and equipment.

  • Maintains adequate inventories of supplies and equipment.

  • Participates in ongoing quality control activities and projects.

· Assists with cleaning, maintaining, and stocking linen for dressing rooms and treatment rooms.

· Updates and retrieves patient information.

· Contacts new start patients before their start date for special treatment instructions i.e. full/empty bladder, NPO, or stents.

· Answers phones and directs calls as necessary.

· Coordinates all aspects of inpatient transportation.

· Relays treatment delays to patients in waiting areas.
