The Medical Assistant is responsible for the care of patients and achieving the goals of the facility as directed by the Physician/Medical Provider.
General Accountabilities:
Medical assistants are responsible for efficiently assisting the Medical Providers by performing a range of administrative and clinical tasks, including:
Completing check in processes including collecting patient balances.
Prepare patient care rooms for examination.
Measure vital signs, and record information on chart/EMR.
Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic tests including eye exams,
electrocardiograph, pulse ox, peak flow and or spirometry, inhalation treatment equipment and blood draws.
Perform, collect and label CLIA-waived lab tests for sending out.
Perform both DOT and Non-DOT urine drug and alcohol tests.
Remove sutures/staples and change sterile and non-sterile dressings.
Responsible for patient centered communication including discussing patient balances.
Explaining the procedure and treatments that will be performed.
Immediate service recovery for patients that are not satisfied.
Other responsibilities of the Medical Assistant include:

Clean and sterilize both instruments and equipment after use.
o
Assist in maintaining an adequate level of supplies and instruments for use by the facility.
Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery,
Follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.
