Phillips 66 Market Analyst, Chemicals in Houston, Texas

The Market Analyst provides commodity market fundamentals, short/medium term supply/demand analysis, and economic analysis support for the Chemicals business. In addition, this position will support ad hoc requests from Executive Management, Midstream Senior Management, Commercial/VCO Senior Management, Chief Economist, and Investor Relations.
Responsibilities May Include:
Developing a comprehensive understanding of commodity, chemicals, and end-use markets, including key supply/demand regions, logistics assets, storage facilities, and competitors.
Communicating chemical and end-use market fundamentals to Chemicals leadership and assisting in the development of new applications, market entry plans, and profitable business models for current and new chemicals businesses.
Development and maintenance of near/medium-term (prompt to 2 years out) supply and demand reports and models.
Use fundamental and technical data to develop forward global market views and utilize forecast to evaluate both organic and inorganic growth opportunities.
Working with third party consultants and brokers to understand and evaluate their views on commodity markets and factor those into development of Phillips 66’s market view.
Communicating external study results and market views to assist business leads with growth and capital decisions.
Understanding and communicating geopolitical and regulatory events/factors which impact price movements and circularity/renewable trends.
Leading information gathering process for monthly, quarterly, and annual peer benchmarking studies.
Creating presentation packages for management and customers as needed.
Economic analysis in support of capital projects, M&A, partnerships, and new business ventures.
Preparing and developing regular business logistics and profitability reports.
Sharing knowledge freely and improving peer group understanding of own niche markets.
Leading ad-hoc projects and analysis around market fundamentals, peer performance, and growth projects.
Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor’s degree
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
2 or more years of experience with the Chemicals or Energy industry
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or Business
4 or more years of Commercial/Trading or related experience in the Energy industry
An understanding of broader Commodity Markets (Crude, Gasoline, Distillates, NGLs, Natural Gas, Power)
Knowledge of Commercial Trading businesses
Refining/petrochemical knowledge
High degree of collaborative skills. Ability to develop, lead and actively participate on cross functional teams
Strong willingness and ability to support internal customers in business requirements
High degree of initiative, works proactively to anticipate needs
Ability to manage conflict, influence others and persuade/facilitate resolution
Proficiency with statistical modeling software, database software, and economic model development
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written to ensure clarity and common understanding
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Capable of gaining consensus and trust across multiple functional areas within and external to Commercial to build a common vision and direction
Ability to adapt to quickly evolving requirements
Ability to synthesize data into useful information and articulate it in an easy-to-understand format
Proactive in problem identification and resolution, can provide creative solutions to complex issues
High degree of ethics, personal drive and dedication to achieve team goals and general interest objectives
