Purpose of the position
Will perform assigned Maintenance Operations 2nd Shift Supervisor duties as an Amentum employee onsite at the NASA Johnson Space Center. Manages 2nd Shift activities to ensure facility and equipment are operational to meet needs of the Customer and fulfill Amentum’s contractual obligations.
Principal Responsibilities of the Position -
Maintenance 2nd Shift:
Develops maintenance project objectives, installation schedules, and purchase requirements necessary to complete assigned projects.
Coordinates various phases of maintenance projects with other departments and resolves issues that occur.
Monitors in-house maintenance projects for adherence to budget, recommends variances as necessary.
Prepares and recommends operating and personnel budgets for approval. Monitors spending for adherence to budget, recommends variances as necessary.
Recommends and/or initiates the selection and hiring of employees for the 2nd shift. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions to HR Manager. Makes recommendations for salary increases, transfers and terminations to Sr. Maintenance Manager.
Develops and implements maintenance methods and procedures to improve 2nd shift maintenance efficiency.
Manages workflow and activities of 2nd shift maintenance personnel and equipment engineering to ensure that maintenance activities are completed in a timely manner.
Maintains communication with plant managers and engineers regarding work assignments and requests to determine work priorities, maintenance and
Attends meetings with PAE and NASA as necessary.
Communicate effectively with Day Shift Maintenance and Operations Managers.
Installation of machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
Prepares and submits reports for metrics and contractual compliance, as required. Maintains databases that keep track of data and analyses relating to maintenance issues.
Operations – 2nd Shift:
Oversee and direct operations 2nd Shift personnel in the safe troubleshooting diagnosis, and repair of the equipment needed to deliver required services to Customer. Using industry best practices, prioritize operation needs to best utilize available manpower while still providing services to the Customer. Communicate with the Work Control Center the status of all work orders reported during the shift.
Communicate to Management, as needed or instructed, following Chain of Command protocol.
Train, mentor, and coach 2nd Shift employees to ensure the workforce is continuously improving in the areas of job knowledge, skills, and the ability to safely perform assigned tasks. Coordinate with Operations Sr. Manager on all personnel issues. Oversee the operation of various equipment as directed to fit PM schedules, outages and other factors that influence the ability of the Plant to meet Customer needs.
Ensure PAE and JSC policies and guidelines including use of JHAs, PPE requirements, safe work practices, timekeeping, etc. are followed. Complete reports as assigned to ensure important information is communicated to other shift personnel, upper management and NASA. Will Provide PAE incident command requirements on assigned shift. Will coordinate and execute building outages and Utility Procedures. Support Hurricane Ride-Out Team.

Education and Experience Requirements
Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Prefer college degree in related field and/or minimum 7 years related experience.
Must have previous supervisory experience in a plant environment
Prefer five years or more supervisory experience at the JSC work site
Prefer previous experience working with Union employees
Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
Must have, and maintain, a valid Texas driver’s license.
Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
Clean, neat, and professional personal appearance.
Will ensure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner as well as insuring areas worked are clean, neat and ready for Customers’ needs when complete.
Special Knowledge and Skills Required
Basic skills with computers including Microsoft WORD and EXCEL
Knowledge and experience working with Maximo
Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
Basic organization and time management skills
Basic interpersonal skills to interact with Customers, team members, vendors and contractors, as needed
Experience and knowledge of the equipment and tools used at the JSC work site
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms of English. Also, the ability to communicate with all levels from new Operators to upper level management.
Professional appearance and demeanor as required supervising others.
Knowledge of rotating shift work including overtime and vacancy filling.
Thorough knowledge of process operations, including fired boilers, commercial chillers, and various other utility type processes.
Ability to manage and resolve workplace conflicts.
Knowledge of basic workplace safety requirements.
Ability to quickly identify priorities concerning operation needs based on manpower and the need to provide product to our Customer.
Knowledge of laws, standards and guideline material concerning OSHA HAZWOPER training and RCRA, waste/wastewater, waste management, Spill Prevention, control and Countermeasures (SPCC), and storm water management.
